I’m a consumer relations specialist and proud of what I do every day. When I first arrived, a lot of my team had been here for 10, 15, even 20 years. At my previous company I was a long timer, so I could immediately relate.
I figured if so many people stayed so long, the company must be doing something right!
Now, I can say I’ve been on the team the longest. I love what I do and it’s so fulfilling when I hear people say, “Wow, you don’t find service like this anymore!” I know that I’m making our customers happy, and that by talking to me they feel good about Red Wing Shoe Company. My goal is for the service that I provide to create loyal customers who spread the word about our great products.
I also feel like a real asset to my team. My manager tells me she appreciates my expertise, openness, and honesty. People come to me with questions, even people outside of my department, and that makes me feel valued. Overall, there’s a great feeling of camaraderie, but it’s more than that.
It's a feeling like family.
That really hits home for me because I consider Red Wing to be my family outside of my family. There’s a genuine feeling of care about what’s going with you.
Family, Not a Number
Red Wing Shoes supports me in many ways. My cubicle is filled with rainbows! My pride is well displayed. Everyone knows how much I love my wife and family, and I’m not afraid to talk about them at work. But the past year and a half has been rough on us. We experienced some hate crimes at home; it was tough and we were scared. When an incident happened, the team here was responsive, helpful, and made me feel safe.
At Red Wing Shoe Company, I love my job, my team, and feel I’m part of a big work family, not just a number.
